EnerNOC Awarded Contract Under NYSERDA's Aggregated Load Reduction Program
December 13, 2006
NEW YORK, NY – EnerNOC, Inc., a leading provider of full-service demand response solutions
in the U.S., announced today that the company was competitively selected to receive a
comprehensive services contract through the New York State Energy Research and
Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Aggregated Load Reduction Program.
According to the National Electric Reliability Council’s (NERC) recently released 2006 Long-
Term Reliability Assessment, demand response is a critical component in maintaining the
reliable electric delivery for a region. By providing financial assistance for projects that deliver
large-scale electric demand reduction, NYSERDA’s Aggregated Load Reduction Program
tackles grid reliability head-on by giving businesses access to load reduction opportunities that
might otherwise remain inaccessible.
NYSERDA allocated up to $27 million to help develop an estimated 37 MW’s of demand
reduction within the electric service territory of Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
(Con Edison), which will help ease grid congestion and reduce the potential for widespread
outages throughout the region.
Over the contract’s term, EnerNOC will deliver demand reductions of up to 11 MW’s at
commercial, institutional, and industrial end-user sites through four demand-side management
strategies – permanent efficiency, curtailment/shifting for demand response, distributed
generation for demand response and installing interval meters for demand response.
“NYSERDA’s program gives us the opportunity to offer additional value to our demand response
customers by advancing facility and technology upgrades to access new demand response
capacity, automate demand response processes and enable permanent reduction measures,”
said Doug Nordham, senior director of professional services at EnerNOC. “We continue to
strengthen our New York presence by exceeding the expectations of our clients with
unparalleled energy management services and expertise.”
Selected proposals were based on a company’s ability and experience working in Con Edison’s
service territory, which includes New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, and Westchester
Counties, and in obtaining efficiency based demand reduction, load management, or distributed
generation resources.
EnerNOC’s highly experienced team of professional engineers and Certified Energy Managers
(CEM) will be instrumental to the identification and implementation of a variety of measures that
represent the greatest opportunity for distributed generation, automated curtailment, load
shifting, interval metering and permanent energy efficiency.
