Invincea Named Finalist for "Most Innovative Company at RSA® Conference 2011"
Invincea Browser Protection Recognized For Its Ability to Stop Zero-Day Malware in its Tracks; Protects the Network from Users Unwittingly Exposing it to Breach
FAIRFAX, Va.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Invincea, Inc., the innovator in application virtualization for threat protection, announced today it has been named one of 10 finalists for the always popular “Most Innovative Company at RSA® Conference 2011” contest, part of Innovation Sandbox, a unique half-day program representing today’s best new security solutions. This year’s program will feature interactive white boarding sessions, a “Trailbreaker Innovators” panel and the all-new “Start-up Speed Dating” session, matching venture capital professionals with early stage start-up company attendees.
“With our solution set, we believe we are poised to change the game, putting corporations and governments back on a dominant footing against the adversary”
“Security threats are more varied and elaborate than ever before, creating major challenges for today’s security professional,” said Sandra Toms LaPedis, Area Vice President and General Manager of RSA Conference. “For the past 20 years, the commitment of RSA Conference has been to bring together the smartest people in the field to address these challenges. With this award, RSA Conference commends the companies and individuals that are driving the next stage of security innovation.”
Invincea brings to the market solutions that address the growing scourge of web and application borne malware that target corporate and government networks. The company’s solutions offer a unique ability to protect networks against all types of threats – including zero-days – by moving highly targeted web browsers and PDF readers into controlled virtual environments that automatically detect and terminate threats in real-time. Invincea Browser Protection and Document Protection seamlessly move the browser and PDF reader from the native operating system into fully virtualized, separate and secure environments isolated from the desktop, all without changing the user experience. If any malicious behavior is initiated – for example, a drive by download, execution of a malicious script, a buffer overflow exploit or exploits of native APIs and system commands – Invincea automatically detects the threat, terminates it and captures forensic data that can be fed to the rest of the security infrastructure. In less than a minute, the tainted virtual environments are completely removed from the PC and Invincea restores to gold master, clean states.
“We started Invincea because we saw the gap between our collective security defenses and the ability of our adversaries widening at an alarming rate,” said Dr. Anup Ghosh, founder and chief scientist at Invincea. “We refused to believe the assertion that prevention was a failed strategy and instead set our sights at bringing to market a new class of preventative solutions that address the broadest threat surfaces.”
Around the midway point of 2010, Invincea brought two revolutionary solutions to market. “With our solution set, we believe we are poised to change the game, putting corporations and governments back on a dominant footing against the adversary,” said Ghosh. “Our research has shown that secure, full virtualization of PDF readers and Internet Browsers is necessary to defend against the sophisticated threats hitting enterprise users today. Sandboxing and other watered-down virtualization approaches simply cannot address the range of sophisticated threats today that exploit flaws in software or users’ permission to infect systems.”
The “Most Innovative Company at RSA Conference 2011” winner will be decided at the conclusion of Innovation Sandbox, after each finalist gives a three to five-minute presentation to a panel of judges including Asheem Chandna of Greylock Partners; Gerhard Eschelbeck of Webroot; Renee Guttmann of Time Warner Inc.; Paul Kocher of Cryptography Research, Ray Rothrock of Venrock and Hugh Thompson, Program Committee Chair for RSA Conference 2011. The winner will be announced to all Conference attendees on Tuesday morning during the RSA Conference 2011 opening session.
